Kri\u017eevci, October 2\u20134, 2024<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The second international Eco Festival \"Sustainability, Community, Future\" was jointly organize Krizevci University of Applied Sciences<\/a>the lead partner SOFI \u2013 Initiative for smart ecological agriculture<\/a>, Association for Community Economy<\/a> from Kri\u017eevci Center for Lifelong Learning<\/a> from Travnik in BiH and the Starkmacher Association<\/a> The festival was supported by the cities of Kri\u017eevci and Travnik and the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences<\/a> in Kleve, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program included film screenings, lectures, panels, workshops, and an eco fair. The main theme of the festival was the Climate Action Plan for Agriculture in Kri\u017eevci<\/em>a key outcome document of the SOFI project. The program content addressed modern food production challenges<\/em>, climate change issues<\/em> and and the presentation of SOFI project outcomes.<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a prelude to the festival, the film screening ofKiss the ground<\/a>perfectly set the tone. The film emphasizes the critical importance of soil as humanity\u2019s lifeline for ensuring sustainable food production, water supply, and the survival of civilization. The screening was held at the Kri\u017eevci Cinema in the Kri\u017eevci Development and Technology Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Climate Action Plan for Agriculture in Kri\u017eevci: \"A quality document ready for implementation as early as next year\"<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On the second day, the main outcomes of the SOFI project were presented. Ziriko Ponsiano from Rhein-Waal University (Kleve) showcased best practices in strengthening ecological agriculture in the region<\/em>, Dr. Silvije Jer\u010dinovi\u0107 introduced the Green Education Program<\/a>, and Anto Bili\u0107 presented the networking web platform sofi4agri.com for farmers in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. sofi4agri.com<\/a>The festival's special guest was Dr. Branko Grisogono<\/em>a professor of dynamic (theoretical) meteorology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, who delivered a lecture titled\"The Vortex of Climate Extremes: Challenges Today.\"<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was followed by Sanela Mikul\u010di\u0107-\u0160anti\u0107, MSc Agronomy, presenting the Climate Action Plan for Agriculture in Kri\u017eevci<\/em>A lively panel discussion moderated by Petra Pomper ensued, featuring Branko Grisogono, Iva Rojnica (Polytechnic College Kri\u017eevci), Ivan Bi\u0161kup (City of Kri\u017eevci), and Slavko Kopilovi\u0107 (Ministry of Agriculture).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panelists praised the measures proposed by the Climate Action Plan, emphasizing the importance of strengthening education for farmers and consumers by creatingmodel farms<\/em>where the public can witness the economic and environmental benefits of ecological farming practices. Ivan Bi\u0161kup from Kri\u017eevci's Department for Economy, Finance, EU Funds, and Public Procurement expressed satisfaction with the proposed measures and their timingSome proposed measures can already be included in next year\u2019s city budget.<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n
